What is the best possible relationship between religion and solutions to poverty, in modern life?

Well...I believe solutions to poverty comes from religion. Because unless you are Bill Gates, and you are helping cure diseases without a religion, you are most likely doing something because you were taught to through your religion. Whether you are a follower or practicer now or not, still when you were younger your mother, or religious leader told you that in your religion things are done a certain way. So when you grow up and start to form your own beliefs and ideas about things consciously or subconsciously you still have that in the back of your head where you were told to for example, give your spare change to a homeless person while walking down the block. Or another example can be that in my religion ever since i was a child i was taught that even a simple smile can be considered an act of charity, so even now with everything thats going on in my life, with all the stress of school and other things, and not getting enough sleep consciously or subconsciously i try my best to smile, even if I'm having the worst day ever. Keeping this in mind that maybe if I smile, I will help someone else who is having a maybe even a worse day than I am smile, because smiles are contagious. In the same sense when a person sees a type of poverty infront of them, they immediately have a reaction. whether they agree or disagree, and i think that that has to do somewhat with the religious background they come from.
